CURRENT AFFAIRS OF  27th SEPTEMBER 2022

1. World Tourism Day is observed on 27 September globally. The theme of World Tourism Day 2022 is “Rethinking Tourism”.

2. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched the ‘Bharat Vidya’, which is an online learning platform for Oriental and South Asian studies. 

3. The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has won the Airport Service Quality Award 2022 in the 5 to 15 million passenger category of airports operating in the Asia-Pacific region.

4. On 23 September 2022, the Government of India launched an Indian Sign Language (ISL) dictionary mobile app named ‘Sign Learn’ which contains 10,000 words.

5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September, 2022 announced that the Chandigarh airport will be renamed after Shaheed Bhagat Singh as a tribute to the great freedom fighter.

6. Sanjay Kumar has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of the RailTel Corporation of India.

7. The Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Samsung India to empower the youth with industry-relevant skills.

8. Indian Railways has announced that it is installing Real-Time Train Information System (RTIS), developed in collaboration with ISRO, on locomotives and trains.

9. Indian-origin British Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been named the winner of the first-ever Queen Elizabeth II Woman of the Year award.

10. Nagaland Government will launch its own health insurance scheme called the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) on 1 October, 2022.

11. Dr. Rajiv Bahl has been appointed as Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary of the Department of Health Research for a period of three years.

12. Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar has released the book titled ‘Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay – Jeevan Darshan Aur Samsamyikta’ (five volumes) in New Delhi on the occasion of birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay on 25 September, 2022.

13. With a view to reduce the level of air pollution in cities, the Central govt will launch ‘Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan’. Its aim is to reduce air pollution up to 40 percent by 2025-26.

14. India has announced the launch of the ‘Innovation Roadmap of the Mission Integrated Biorefineries’ at Global Clean Energy Action Forum-2022.

15. Dame Hilary Mantel, the author of the best-selling ‘Wolf Hall’ trilogy, passed away at the age of 70.
